Thoughts on Faith vs. Evidence

I try to avoid wowing atheist/agnostics with the latest "groundbreaking" evidence for God's existence. I am not saying, "it never works...," it just doesn't work for me. I am not alone. Even when God gave proof through miracles during the Exodus, they still worshiped a golden calf. Why? Because, proof is in the eye of beholder - if you will. People are good at taking what is obvious and turning it into something else.

Yet so many Atheist say they only need the right evidence and they will believe. Maybe pointing out this contradiction will help them see the value in faith when it comes to God:

We live in a natural universe. The only kind of evidence we collect on any subject will be natural evidence for a natural occurrence. So why do we demand natural evidence for a supernatural being?

If they truly would like to believe in the things they say they do then it will take looking beyond what eyes can see, ears can hear, and minds can comprehend.

Even if God did give us a direct sign, we could just as easily end worshiping our own Golden Calf. It is great to have supporting evidence for your beliefs. However, sometimes evidence is hard to find. For those times when evidence for God seems hard to find, faith becomes our evidence.

Without proper evidence, how will they know to worship God? Easy! Seek the one who is worthy of worship by reputation. God died for us all, loves us dearly, and is preparing a beautiful place for any who will come to live blissfully forever. Who could be more worthy? That is why God gave us free will, so we can freely love God because we just want to love him.
